Lives Lost Drops Brand New Heavy Banger, SLEEPLESS!
by Tanis Pellegrini
Rising alternative metal band Lives Lost returns with a new lineup and their latest single, “SLEEPLESS,” a hard-hitting track about the emotional and physical toll of betrayal, gaslighting, and the anxiety that can follow. Joining lead vocalist, Tanis Pellegrini and long time Guitarist/backing vocalist Chad Wynn, Daniel Cheesman (Bass), and Shawn Lauderback (Drums). Written by singer/songwriter Tanis Pellegrini, “SLEEPLESS” explores what it feels like to be stuck in a constant state of fight-or-flight. The song captures the paranoia, anger, and exhaustion that can come with losing the ability to feel safe, even when the day is over and it’s time to sleep. Instead of focusing on forgiveness or finding closure, Pellegrini takes a more confrontational approach.
The song is about letting go of the need to make peace with someone who caused lasting damage and finding the strength to move forward on your own terms. Musically, “SLEEPLESS” draws from the energy of early-2000s alternative metal while incorporating the sharper edge of modern post-hardcore. The track moves between melodic, hook-driven sections and heavier moments built around screamed vocals, reflecting the tension between vulnerability and anger. From the opening command of “Move!” through the chorus, the song is built with a live audience in mind. It’s loud, restless, and intentionally uncomfortable in places. Mirroring the subject matter rather than trying to make it easier to digest.
For Lives Lost, “SLEEPLESS” is ultimately about taking back control. It doesn’t offer an easy resolution, and it doesn’t pretend that every experience needs to end with forgiveness. Sometimes moving forward means accepting what happened, drawing a line, and refusing to let it have power over you anymore.
