SINGLE REVIEW: Bancroft - "Long Drive"

Bancroft is a Los Angeles based Pop Punk band formed in early 2019 by vocalist Dakota Lizotte and drummer Chase Fox. Influenced by Knuckle Puck, Neck Deep, Real Friends, and State Champs, Bancroft brings emotionally heavy lyrics paired with poppy, up-tempo, and catchy melodies to create a sound that is equally raw and digestible. Each member brings a unique touch to Bancroft. The full lineup consists of Dakota Lizotte (Vocals), Chase Fox (Drums/Vocals), Justin Phillips (Guitar), Nolan Bostock (Guitar), and Nigel Canlapan (Bass).

On October 31, 2019, Bancroft released their debut EP "Forever Nothings." The EP consisted of four of the first songs ever written for the band. All four songs were written, recorded, produced, and released from a bedroom by Dakota and Chase. After a lot of searching, and more frustration, the full lineup was complete. On April 22, 2020, Bancroft put out their second release, "Long Drive," a stand-alone single that marked the first time the complete lineup played together. What started as a simple acoustic song turned into a powerful pop-punk anthem complete with rhythmic guitars, punchy drums, catchy vocals, and a sweeping hip hop influenced bridge. "Long Drive" will be accompanied by a music video that will be released soon.

Bancroft really wanted to write a song that was a little more open to interpretation. Their experiences in life may vary from their listeners. They wanted a song that anyone could relate to and feel. To them, Long Drive is a song about reminiscing after a breakup. Sometimes those memories can take hold of your mental state and control how you feel. Long Drive is about wanting to let go of the past and move forward, but struggling with the ability to do so.
