SINGLE REVIEW: Dropout Kings - "Virus"

Written By: Jasmine C. Jones

Hailing from Phoenix, AZ, Dropout Kings bring you a total new spin on Nu Metal. Coming from the first single as Dropout Kings “NVM” they signed to Napalm Records, and released their first album “Audiodope” the same day. The band was formed by Adam Ramey when his band The Bad Chapter broke up. The band was first called “Phoenix Down” which was later changed to “Dropout Kings”. In 2020 the band had officially signed over to Stay Sick Records.

The new single “Virus” features Shayley Bourget of Dayshell (Ex Of Mice & Men). This single reminds us of an unreleased Link Park song coming from their “Meteora” album. It features an incredible hook and that keeps us listening. It almost sounds like Chester Bennington is speaking to us. It brings up rapping that makes you want to get up on your feet. A guitar riff that brings a familiarity but makes up keep listening for more. And a bridge that reminds us of “One Step Closer” by Linkin Park.
