ARTIST INTERVIEW: "Nick Karcher"

Hey Nick! Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us! First off, where are you from and what got you started in making music?

Hiiiiiiii, thank you for taking the time to ask me some questions! I’m from Chicago, IL and honestly, I’ve been writing lyrics and singing since I was like 5 years old. The first record I fell in love with was Let Go by Avril Lavigne and I would just try to rewrite the lyrics to all the songs on that record in my bedroom and make them my own. Then eventually I started making my own and here we are haha.

You have an amazing image, I wish I could do makeup as good as you, what made you go in the emo direction and how did you first start learning how to do makeup?!

Haha, thank you so much. I put a lot of effort into the visual side of things so I appreciate that. To answer the question though, the emo/goth/punk look is kind of something I was always into but when I was a kid and listening to this kind of stuff for the first time and seeing it, I wasn’t necessarily allowed to dress how I wanted to dress. My parents were great and all but they weren’t into the gig and they were buying me my clothes so that was that. Now as an adult it’s kind of like yeah, I don’t care if I’m dressing like I’m sixteen and mad at the world. This shit looks fucking cool. And I’m super into horror so I don’t know, this is a long ass answer for a simple question but it wasn’t a phase, essentially.

I’m obsessed with your song “Mr. Obsessive”, Do you have any advice for people currently going through a break up with a toxic partner?

Thank you so much, I’m so happy you love it. As cheesy as it sounds, just remember your worth, you know? Co-dependency was, at least for me, a big thing in this kind of shitty situation and there were times when I felt like I almost needed him like I couldn’t remember who I was before him and it’s like bitch, wake up…I don’t need you. In fact, I’m gonna write a fucking banger about how I don’t need you, you’re actually a POS and I’m gonna get thousands of people to sing it with me. It’s easier said than done, but you can do it girls.

When is there going to be new music?!

So soon! I don’t have a date yet but my next single, “Second Chance”  is getting mixed right now, it’s more of ballad-y kind of record. I’m super excited, Joey Fleming from In Her Own Words is featured on it and it’s about the same dude but from the opposite perspective, like it’s always gonna be fuck you but you did hurt me. So, I’m excited for the world to kind of hear that side of me.

What are your hopes and wants for the future for you? What is your goal with your music?

I want to put out more music. I want to tour. I want to get on stage every night in cities I’ve never been to and connect with people I don’t know over these songs. That’s the goal and I’ll get there one day.

Now for some light hearted fun questions! If you had to pick one pair of shoes to wear forever, you can get new shoes but it’s the same exact pair… what are you choosing?

My platform Converse. I actually wore them in the video for Mr. Obsessive and they’re like my third pair. It’s like walking on a cloud.

You get to open up for any one artist of your choice, who is it?

Avril Lavigne or Mayday Parade.

What is the first thing you think about when you first wake up in the morning?

Going back to sleep.

Thank you again Nick for taking the time to answer some of these questions for us! Is there anything you want to plug or tell your fans?

The video for Mr. Obsessive is out now, on my YouTube, and I hope you love it!!!! Thank you to everybody that listens to me whine about stupid guys and I hope you stick around for more!!
