SONG REVIEW: Adam’s Parade - “Call The Captain”
Written by Jesse James Smith
We’re back with another band from ‘Down Unda’. Adam’s Parade, a pop punk band from Sydney, are back with another banger titled “Call The Captain”. Forming in 2019, Adam’s Parade have made quite the splash in the Australian scene playing some massive shows and tours. Going all over Australia and even to the UK and spreading their pop punk style all around the world. Have taken some time off the road in 2024, they are back for blood in 2025 and are kicking this new era off right.
This song is a more mellow track in the pop punk world. This song is more for the melody, the sing-along and the emotions tied with the song. While some of their older music has metalcore influences or at least “easycore” attributes, this song channels more of Transit / Man Overboard where it’s less in your face and more in your feels. The chorus is simple yet effective and is easily memorable. There is just something about screaming “Don’t Call The Captain” at the top of your lungs with them that feels good. Even though the tempo of the song is on the slower side, doesn’t mean they won’t still get down! Before the ending chorus they have a section that gets a little heavy!
This track feels like a homage to their roots and early emo music. Channeling bands like Silverstein, the band branches out just a little more and digs deep within and comes out with a solid emo track. In a time where “emo” is a blanket term, this feels genuine and authentic and most importantly a great start to a new era for the band,
