SONG REVIEW: Andrew Wilson - “Felt Cute, Might Delete Later”
by Jesse James Smith
Coming once again from the land down under, Electronic-core solo artist Andrew Wilson is back but this time with an original. We have talked about his covers, last time it was the cover of scene icons Sleeping With Sirens “If I’m James Dean…”. With only a handful of releases, Andrew sets his course away from covers and has put out his newest original single “Felt Cute, Might Delete Later”.
This track checks all the boxes of what I love about electronic-core. From the vocoder to the heavier sections. It is a subgenre that has died down a lot from its origins and gets little to no love in 2025 which is what sets this song so apart from everything else that has been released recently. While the verses are heavily rooted in traditional electronic music, the chorus has a boom and is the highlight of the song. Kicking in the heavier side during the chorus adds a higher dimension to that part in particular making it something the listener looks forward to.
This song reminds me of the earlier days of Breathe Carolina. I could see this fitting in with “Hello Fascination” and that era of the neon scene. Hearing that sound in 2025 is a blast from the past but everything visually is updated to fit more of the modern music scene. While it does make me miss the neon myspace aesthetic, I’m so stoked that someone is reviving that sound and doing it justice. Even back then, as popular as it was, it was still somewhat shunned in the scene world (which I never understood), so hopefully with all these revivals happening that Andrew can be one of the artists that inspires and spearheads the new generation of Electronic-core. I heard there are more originals on the way, and I’m curious on not only how they are going to sound, but how Andrew is going to brand himself and the project moving forward. This was a solid track and one that should be added to your ‘Feel Good’ playlist and definitely NOT delete later. v
