SONG REVIEW: Danger Den - “Daisy”
by Jesse James Smith
Coming out of Melbourne, Danger Den is a fun and energetic Pop Punk band that is set on reviving the Pop Punk we know and love! The band had their first release in 2021 following a full length album shortly after titled ‘Pull Yourself Together’. Riding that out until 2024 with two new singles ‘Merch Guy Mike’s Favourite Song’ and ‘New Year’s Eve’. The boys are now back in mid 2025 with a brand new single titled ‘Daisy’ and this one is for the romantics.
Daisy is a classic love story between a boy falling in love with his best friend, and I bet you’ll never guess her name. This has to be in the top 3 most pop punk things to write about next to hating your hometown and eating pizza with your friends. But nonetheless, this song is an upbeat love song that will put you in a good mood no matter what is going on. Returning to the roots of pop punk, this song is heavily influenced by bands like Blink 182, All Time Low and New Found Glory with the catchy chorus and the upbeat old school vibe. That catchy chorus is the highlight of this track with the simplicity of that first line “I want to be with Daisy, Baby”. That part alone is infectious and gets stuck in your head for days, which is a sign of an effective hook. This band also has the classic dual-vocalist thing going on which is gives a nice switch up in the middle from verse 1 to verse 2.
Coming with this release is a music video that showcases the band’s vibe in perfect picture. It’s energetic, it’s light, it’s fun and it’s the perfect depiction of how I view pop punk. I’ve said it a million times but Australia breeds the best musicians. I think it’s the spiders. But for the fans of that original pop punk feel, these guys will scratch that itch of wanting new music from your favorite bands but it just isn't hitting the way it used to. They’re fresh and lively and I can see them going places in the future.
