SONG REVIEW: When Forever Finds Me - “Weightless”

Kansas City has an up and coming Metalcore band that continues to grow into something sick, and that band is When Forever Finds Me. Being a fairly new project, their first release dates back to 2024 with their single “God Of Nothing” which was later on their first EP released in 2025. Since then they have been releasing at a very consistent pace as well as performing around with acts like Volumes and Upon A Burning Body. Now, the band is back with a brand new single titled “Weightless” and I think this is one of their best. 

You can feel their influences of the mid 2010’s metalcore really shine in this song. The first thing that caught my attention was the initial drum beat which made the song feel nostalgic. It is a fast tempoed song that has fluttery guitars which reminds me of 2009. The verses are where they modernize the song and bring a unique balance to this track. The vocals feel more comfortable and strong in this mix which really shows off the vocalist’s ability. The verse is slower and more atmospheric instead of intense. This creates the rollercoaster effect, having the ups and downs making the high points feel that much more important. That leads me to the chorus, which has a Saosin/Anthony Green kind of pattern which was executed brilliantly. 

There is no substitute for good song writing and this song is written really well. Between taking risks and branching out from the traditional metalcore playbook, this track is a level up moment for the band. Listening to this and their first single, you can really tell the difference putting the work in makes. When Forever Finds Me is a local band to keep an eye on because with their work ethic and ability, they won’t be local for much longer.
