SONG REVIEW: Without A Sin - “Parasite”
Written by Jesse James Smith
If you are on the hunt for something new and exciting in the music world, look no further than Without A Sin’s newest single “Parasite”. As a band, they emerged in 2019 and have had about 2 year gaps in between singles but in 2024 the new aesthetic and creative direction was shown and this new song is the follow up. For this being their 4th song ever, they have completely won me over almost immediately and I can not wait to explore more of this band.
Starting with the music, Parasite is a fresh mix of the most modern hits from across the spectrum of the scene and scene adjacent. The range of musical inspirations is actually quite impressive. Chase Atlantic, Rj Pasin, and Bad Omens are some of the ones that really stood out to me plus having a sort of anime intro vibe. Parasite blends heavy backbeats with glitched out processed vocals that instead of hiding vocal imperfections, they use it as a tool. This song has a unique feature from Hoshikuma Minami from Japan which adds perfectly not only to the music but visually as well.
As far as the band's aesthetic, they have a cybergoth vibe with one of them in what I would call a gimp mask. But from their wardrobe to the album art to even the color schemes. Moving forward, this band is going to be a force to be reckoned with I can already tell. The test will be how consistent they put out music and keep on the grind. They are checking every box to be HUGE, but time will tell. For now, Parasite is a 10/10.
