SONG REVIEW: Andrew Wilson - “I’m Bored x Feat. Kellin Quinn”

Written by Jesse James Smith

We here at GKE have covered a large list of bands and we have seen some of the coolest come ups, comebacks and everything in between, and this I have to say is a very cool come up. Andrew Wilson, a solo artist/producer out of Australia is back again, this time with a brand new original titled “I’m Bored x”  that features a pretty special guest.

We’ve covered Andrew’s covers in the past, most notably “I’m James Dean..” by Sleeping With Sirens. If you aren't familiar with his work, Andrew has a very unique blend of electronica, emo, and pop punk! It is very nostalgic to the “neon” era bands like Breathe Carolina. This song is no different and fits right in with his previous songs. This time, there are more prominent guitars and drums which introduces more of the pop punk elements and influences. Music aside when it comes to melodies, this guy KILLS it! Very easy to listen to and get stuck in your head. But why I said this was such a cool come up was because this song features Kellin Quinn! After covering a Sleeping With Sirens track, having that vocalist come in on one of your songs is a huge milestone that was unlocked, and Kellin didn’t disappoint. Showcasing his range of singing and screaming, he was the perfect addition to this song.

As that Neon era has come and gone, there are still glimmers of light shining from that genre, and Andrew is one of the ones keeping it alive! If you miss that era and need something new, Andrew is a new staple in your playlist.
