PREMIERE: Andrew Wilson - If I’m James Dean, You’re Audrey Hepburn (SWS Cover)
Written by Jesse James Smith
Andrew Wilson is an electronicore solo artist from Australia that is fresh to the scene. With only one other cover out of ‘All Girls Are The Same’, Andrew is back with another cover of a scene/emo classic. ‘If I’m James Dean, You’re Audrey Hepburn’ is a song that will be immortalized in the scene forever, and is one that no matter if you like heavier metalcore or pop punk, you know this song. But, I bet you have never heard it like this before.
There is the original version that was high energy and a post hardcore masterpiece, and then there was the stripped down version and billions of acoustic covers of this song, but incomes Andrew and writes a new reimagined version that is tasteful and unique. In the beginning I was expecting another slower version, maybe not just acoustic but something along those lines, but then the drums started with a simple backbeat and it completely changed the vibe of the song. It took me a minute for my brain to process, but as the song went on, I found myself enjoying this new outlook of a song I’ve known for years. It was tasteful, it was artistic and thought out and most of all it was a standout track for being different in a great way. This version of the song could appeal to the majority of people that are non-scene. A mid-tempo track with a beautiful melody and voice that stays the course and harbors a feel-good vibe.
Andrew Wilson is also currently working on an upcoming EP alongside renowned producer Simon Cohen, best known for his work with global superstar Justin Bieber (notably on the hit Love Yourself), as well as Australian heavyweights like Troye Sivan, Jessica Mauboy, Will Singe, and Illy. The project is expected to drop in the coming months, and if this recent track is any indication, the EP will be something to look out for.
